Student PDF Sharing with Notable PDF

Not ready for Google Classroom, yet would like to set up student sharing of PDF documents. Maybe you would like your students to use Notable PDF for annotation and share a finished PDF with you.

To keep things simple on the student end we will use https://web.notablepdf.com/web/.  All a student will have to do is connect to their GaFE or Gmail account. Notable PDF also has an extension and App depending on your desire for Google Drive integration. But, there are a few things that need to be set up on the teacher end.

First, you will need to create a sharable folder in Google Drive. In the example below I just used pdf. In addition to sharing it with specific students, make sure the folder is set to "view" not "edit". This forces the students to copy the pdf to their own Drive so multiple students annotations are not on the same pdf.


Next, you will duplicate the steps above for a turn in folder. The turn in folder will also need to be set up as view not edit. Inside that folder you can create a sub folder for each student set to edit not view. In my example, the S1 subfolder was shared with account S1 with edit rights meaning S1 could save to that folder but no other folder.

As long as students and teacher are both using the Notable PDF extension they both will be able to create and view annotations.  If you viewed the PDF outside of Notable PDF, annotations would not be present.
